Czech Republic Donation of 84,810 Euros for Demining in BiH


12/21/2009 - Sarajevo – Government of the Czech Republic donated 84,810.45 Euros for demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2008-2009, via the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF).

The donation was used to demine “Kolimer” in Tuzla Canton, surface area 32,166 square metres, and Gora – Serdarski gaj, surface area 5,003 square metres. It was also used to support the work of the NGO “Eko Sport Group”, which provides psychosocial rehabilitation for mine victims in BiH.

The Government of the Czech Republic has donated more than 920,000 Euros for demining activities in southeast Europe and for the establishment of the mine action structure in Georgia.

These funds have been used for demining in BiH, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo and Albania. In addition, the Government of the Czech Republic has been very active in support of different projects related to mine victim assistance in Croatia and BiH.
The Czech Republic has allocated 74,000 Euros in 2010 for technical survey in the Municipality of Lopare, BiH.

Over the past 11 years, since its inception, the ITF has collected 207.13 million Euros for different mine action programmes in the region of southeast Europe and wider. Almost 50 percent of funds have been used in BiH for different mine action programmes and a total of 51 million square metres of land has been cleared.

During 2010 the ITF will continue to collect donations for demining and mine victim assistance in the region of southeast Europe and worldwide, it was reported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in BiH.
